“Elisabeth S. Davis' Crazy Head Space, is a vivid, theatrical exhibit of some of the mental and behavioral disorders that you've always wondered about. It takes us through an A-Z breakdown of both popular and obscure conditions that not only leap off of the page, but sometimes twirl into a pirouette, too. From the opening sequences, Crazy Head Space is an explosion of color and sound.”

“…it comes as a bit of a shock to see (our) difficult experiences

transformed into song-and dance routines complete with high-stepping

choreography, glittering eye shadow, and operatic chorus lines. Yet this is the radical premise of playwright and drama therapist Elisabeth S. Davis’s Crazy Head Space. The production consists of a series of energetically performed musical skits… and Davis manages to grant every diagnosis its unique personality.”

“What talent! What energy! What a touching, funny, respectful musical portrayal of the A-Z of mental illness. The music and lyrics were inspired, as was the choreography. Left me wanting more from its creators and cast.”

“Crazy Head Space feels like a musical theater party… (the) songs are varied, catchy, and filled with ribald wit… large cast, talented singers, genuinely and innocently delightful.”

“Not knowing exactly what to expect of a rock musical exploration of the DSM IV, I'm sure I was not expecting such a bright optimistic opening, but I'm so glad of it. It really makes a statement. We are here to entertain you, it says. Relax and let us do our thing.

Let me explain. DSM stands for the Diagnostic Statistical Manual and is a medical reference with the very latest criteria (lists of symptoms A-Z) used as a guide to help doctors diagnose mental illnesses. Instead of going dark with such material, which would be expected, composer-lyricist Liz S. Davis and composer Michelangelo Sosnowitz have chosen the light… Under the circumstances a lot of us are in these days, am I guilty in saying it was a relief not to have to sit through an hour and a half of heavy? Which isn't to say Crazy Head Space totally stays in the nuthouse safety zone, but I'll get to that later…”
